A to Oui: G is for Galette 🇫🇷

Rustic, buttery and slightly imperfect.

🇫🇷 A galette can be sweet or savoury. While fruit galettes are popular, in Brittany you’ll also find savoury buckwheat galettes filled with cheese, ham and egg.

This apple and raspberry galette proves you don’t need a fancy tart tin to create something special. Just crisp, flaky pastry wrapped around sweet apples.

I used 1 sheet of sweet short crust pastry, rolled it a little thinner and cut the corners to be slightly round. Topped with apples and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.

I added a few frozen raspberries for colour and to balance the sweetness. Then fold in edges and a quick egg wash and baked until golden.

Sometimes the most beautiful bakes are the ones that don’t try too hard.
