A to Oui 🇫🇷 O is for Oranais

Oranais aux Abricots 🇫🇷🍑 — buttery, custardy, apricotty and très oui.

A French pâtisserie classic made puff pastry, crème pâtissière and apricot halves, finished with a glossy apricot glaze.

Despite being firmly at home in French boulangeries and pâtisseries today, the Oranais is said to have links to Oran in Algeria, during the period of French rule. You’ll also spot it under names such as croissant aux abricots or lunettes aux abricots — “apricot glasses”, thanks to those two bright apricot halves peeking out of the pastry.

And, as I discovered, making them also leaves you with enough crème pâtissière to cater for a small French village. 😂
